A highly important Royal Sapphire and Diamond Coronet, created under the direction of H.R.H. Prince Albert for his new wife, Queen Victoria, by Joseph Kitching between 1841 and June 1842.
This Sapphire and Diamond Coronet was worn as Queen Victoria’s Badge of Office in her first State Portrait painted by Winterhalter in 1843.
Export stopped by Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art UK, purchased for the nation by a private benefactor.
