The Dunedin Suite made by Julius Schomburgk retailed by Wendt

Exhibited at the Dunedin Exhibition of 1865 by J.M. Wendt of Adelaide with a matching pair of epergnes, illustrated in the Melbourne Post, 24th December 1866.

I purchased the centrepiece from the Wendt family in Adelaide and have since sold it twice.

The epergnes were sold after the exhibition in New Zealand, where I purchased them.

The history of this group is fully described in my article published in the World of Art and Antiques, February – August 2011, pages 70-75. The Dunedin Suite

The Dunedin Epergnes were given to George McLean by the Officers of the Bank of New Zealand in Otago on his retiring from the management of [the] Dunedin Branch, November 1865.
