One of a pair by Auguste originally purchased in Paris after the Revolution by Beckford in the late 1780’s.
Sold to Kerry Packer and still in the Packer Collection.
I purchased a half share in the drawing from the sale of the Odiot drawing collection when it came up for sale. I offered it to the Packer collection and when it was not purchased it was sold to the V&A to accompany the other ewer and basin in the Gilbert Collection. It is now displayed in a slide below the silver in the museum.
